a pigeon stared into my soul

it's not as crazy as the title sounds. well maybe it's a few teaspoons of crazy, just not a full cup.

in 2017,i walked around the boudhanath stupa for a good bit of time with a travel buddy. watch the video for a sense of the size of this temple. the opening scene is kathmandu from the air. the stupa is a large yellow structure surrounded by the chaos of this city. it was built around AD 600.

i walked around the base with pilgrims and tried to be as respectful as possible. i took the photo of one devotee's prayer beeds and a short video but skipped most faces. i try not to snap photos of people without permission.

we climbed up to the next level to see the prayer flags. as i snapped more photos i noticed this pigeon. check it out below.

it's probably just a tired pigeon who was used to people. or was it a reincarnated devotee waiting for thier next life?
